THE MYSTERY OF LIFE PART II (REINCARNATION)

Actually, REINCARNATION and RESURRECTION are both positive. They give us hope, our death is not an end.

REINCARNATION

No bodily form is permanent: everyone dies and reincarnates further. Liberation from reincarnation is possible, however, through removing and ending karmic accumulations to one's soul. Buddhist texts assert that an enlightened person knows his previous births, a knowledge achieved through high levels of meditative concentration.

DOES THE SOUL EXIST

Is there a soul? Does anything endure the ravages of time? How do we know if souls really exist?

Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism disagree in their assumptions and theories about rebirth. Hinduism relies on its foundational assumption that "soul, Self exists", in contrast to Buddhist assumption that there is "no soul, no Self". Hindu traditions consider soul to be the unchanging eternal essence of a living being, and what journeys across reincarnations until it attains self-knowledge. Buddhism, in contrast, asserts a rebirth theory without a Self, and considers realization of non-Self or Emptiness as Nirvana. Thus Buddhism and Hinduism have a very different view on whether a self or soul exists, which impacts the details of their respective rebirth theories.

With high respect to Buddhism, I must say I don't agree with "no soul, no Self". Without soul, there shouldn't be karma and reincarnation, we are nothing.

PURIFICATION OF THE SOUL (SPIRITUAL TRANSFORMATION)

Reincarnation is a spiritual transformation, the soul will keep transforming until it becomes a pure soul. Soul purification is the purpose of reincarnation.

The pure soul is our real identity. However, it is covered with layers and layers of karma (the impurities), which is why we cannot realize the existence of our soul and we remain ignorant of who we really are.
